Application for Independent Study Packets

If you wish to do other than complete a study packet created by the CATIE Center, contact us at rclaurion@stkate.edu or 651-690-6973 to discuss your independent study ideas. Together we will discuss the proposed activity and decide if it will qualify for RID CEUs.

I will document time and activities in online bulletin board on MedicalInterpreting.org (Preferred) I will document time and activites on Time Documentation Sheet from study packet and submit paper documenation Other idea: describe in the box to the right.
6. How many CEUs is this worth? Remember, in an educational setting, 10 contact hours = 1 CEU. Consider how much time you will devote to this study. A maximum of 2.0 CEUs can be earned for each project. (Larger projects may be broken into components and each component filed as a separate independent study project earning up to 2.0 CEUs each.)
Up to 2.0 CEUs, depending on the amount of time I document for my activities. I understand that the CATIE Center requires 1.5 hours for each .1 CEU in an independent study, so 2.0 CEUs will require 30 hours of documented activity. Other amount: describe in the box to the right.
By submitting this form, I agree to implement the Independent Study Activity as outlined in this plan and to submit all the necessary documentation of successful completion to my Sponsor. I certify that this activity for CEU credit toward the RID CMP requirements represents a valid and verifiable Continuing Education Experience that exceeds routine employment responsibilities. *Required: I agree to accepting the above statement.* In return, the CATIE Center agrees to insure that this Independent Study Activity will be overseen and evaluated by individual(s) with the relevant expertise. The CATIE Center agrees to have discussed the Independent Study Activity outlined in this plan with the participant and agree that it represents a valid and verifiable Continuing Education Experience. Further, the CATIE Center agrees to assess the documentation submitted by the participant upon completion of the Independent Study Activity and award the appropriate CEUs if completion is satisfactory.
